Greetings!
The Silvio O. Conte Refuge Draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) describes four alternatives that have been evaluated for management of Conte Refuge, including the Service’s preferred alternative (Alternative C). Alternative C would protect, restore, and manage a diversity of habitats, increase the range of compatible public uses and access, and expand the refuge boundary.
The draft CCP/environmental impact statement is currently out for public review and comment until November 16, 2015. It is posted on the Conte Refuge Website at:
http://www.fws.gov/refuge/Silvio_O_Conte/what_we_do/conservation.html
We wanted to remind you of the upcoming Conte Refuge draft CCP public hearings, as scheduled below. These hearings provide an opportunity for interested individuals to submit comments orally. This will be a formal setting, facilitated by a hearing officer. There will be a time limit per speaker based on the number of people that register just prior to the meeting. People are encouraged to submit additional comments in writing (see how below). There will be no responses from Service personnel at the hearing. The comments will be audio-recorded and later transcribed as part of the public record.
Public Hearing Schedule
Nov 2, 2015 from 6-8 p.m.- St. Johnsbury, Vt. (St. Johnsbury School, 257 Western Ave.)
Nov 5, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. - Keene, N.H. (Keene Public Library, 60 Winter Street)
Nov 9, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. - Hadley, Mass. (U.S.F.W.S. Regional Office, 300 Westgate Center Dr)
Nov 12, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. - Burlington, Conn. (Sessions Woods WMA, 341 Milford St., Rte 69)
As an alternative to making oral comments at a public hearing, written comments may be submitted by the November 16th deadline:
Please contact Nancy McGarigal ([email protected]; 413-253-8562) if you have questions, or would like to be taken off this mailing list.
Thank you for your continued interest in the future of Conte Refuge!
Sincerely,
