In August, the VT Dept of Health and U.S. Dept of Agriculture's Wildlife Services will conduct an oral rabies vaccine (ORV) field project in 9 VT counties, including Essex. Low flying aircraft will drop vaccine bait in rural areas, and place it by hand in residential areas. No adverse effects from contact with the bait has been reported from field studies in Canada and U.S., but contact should not be made if bait is come across. Details are posted at Town Hall.
