The Town of Guildhall Select Board plans to convey approximately 37.7 acres of land on the Morin Road. The parcel, now known as the Town Forest, was acquired by the Town of Guildhall pursuant to a Tax Collector's Deed dated January 28, 1963 and recorded in Volume S, Page 606, being the same land and premises conveyed to Maurice Hanks by Thomas J. Lewis and Catherine Lewis on June 21, 1946 and recorded in book R, page 386 of the Guildhall land records.
Bids were solicited and received by the Town, and the highest bid was in the amount of $32,500, which the Selectboard intends to accept. Upon closing the sale, the Town will convey a quitclaim deed to the purchaser.
A copy of the proposed purchase and sale agreement outlining all terms of the sale may be inspected in the Town Clerk's Office. Individuals with questions may contact Sam Swope, Town Clerk, at 802.6767.3797 or through the town's website at www.guildhallvt.org/town-clerk.html.
This notice is posted in three public places within Guildhall, including the Town Clerk's office, and it will be published in at least one newspaper of general circulation no less than thirty days prior to the date of conveyance. If a petition signed by five percent of the legal voters of the Town objecting to the conveyance is presented to the Clerk within thirty days of the date of this posting or the date of the publication, whichever is later, the Selectboard will present the questions of whether the Town shall convey this real estate as proposed to a special or annual Town meeting.
