This program, managed by the Department of Public Service, provides financial support to customers who may face disconnection of service because of past-due balances for their electric, landline telephone, natural gas, water, or sewer/wastewater charges. There is a $10,000 cap for residential customers, a $50,000 cap for commercial accounts.

The state’s renters’ assistance program, VERAP, can help pay renters’ utility bills for up to 12 months! Eligible Vermonters can apply for utility bill assistance for help with past due or future bills, up to a $10,000 maximum combined total.
