Her email is lea@zetland.dk The news publication link is https://www.zetland.dk/omzetland Name Nikola Gøttsche Subject Leading Danish Newspaper doing a report from Guildhall Comment I’m a journalist at the leading Danish newspaper Zetland, where I mainly cover American politics. Our approach to journalism differs from most prominent media-outlets in that we don’t really do punditry or so-called ‘analyses’, but rather focus our attention on doing reporting on the ground and telling the stories of the locals communities that can shed light on some of the under-reported narratives in the media landscape. I’m writing to you because I’m coming to Guildhall on February 25th and planning on staying there for a week or so. The reason I’ve become interested in Guildhall is that I understand that it’s one of the many communities across the country, where a lot of the people who voted for Obama in 2012, voted for Trump in 2016. To be completely clear, my interest is not in saying that it’s ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ to support either Obama or Trump (in fact, my own political sentiments are quite conflicted and ambiguous), but rather to talk and listen to some of the locals to try and really figure out reasoning, attitudes and feelings behind this kind of political behavior. In my opinion this is one of the most important stories to tell, if you want to understand the current political landscape, as it seems to be a kind of Trump-support that differs from the dominant media caricature, and as such, I’ve become curious about your community, which is why I’m travelling across the world to visit. More to the point, I was hoping that you would be able to point me to a family in Guildhall that I could follow in their day-to-day life, at their jobs, during their involvement in the local community, and talk to about their political concerns. I hope you can help me out. Looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Nikola Gøttsche Journalist The Selectboard will hold their next regular meeting at the Guild Hall (Town Office) on Wednesday, January 15th, 2019 at 7:00 pm.
